How to Manage Bandwidth on MikroTik RouterOS

MikroTik RouterOS has several ways to share bandwidth, including the following:
  • Simple Queue:
This method allows users to share bandwidth in a simple and easy way. Simple queue allows users to set maximum upload and download bandwidth limits for each user and each IP address. Users can set the queue tree to give priority or bandwidth limits on different types of traffic.
  • Queue Tree:
This method allows users to create a hierarchy in bandwidth settings. Queue tree allows users to determine which users have access to certain bandwidth and allows users to share bandwidth evenly or give priority to certain traffic.
  • PCQ (Per Connection Queue):
This method allows users to share bandwidth fairly between all users considering the number of connections made by each user. PCQ can be set to limit the maximum bandwidth and give priority to different types of traffic.
  • Mikrotik Firewall:
This method allows users to restrict user access to the network in specific ways. By using the firewall features in MikroTik RouterOS, users can limit bandwidth to certain traffic or limit user access to the network based on time, location or type of user.
  • Hotspot:
This method allows users to restrict user access to certain WiFi networks or wired networks in a specific way. By using the hotspot feature, users can limit user access to the network based on time, location, or type of user and divide bandwidth evenly or give priority to certain traffic.
All of the above methods allow users to divide bandwidth in a specific way and according to their needs. It is important to understand the features of MikroTik RouterOS and choose the method that best suits the user's needs.
