How to Manage MikroTik Bandwidth With The Firewall Feature

MikroTik RouterOS has a Firewall feature that can be used to manage bandwidth sharing.
In this case, Firewall is used to limit bandwidth on each connection.

Setting up Fair Distribution of Bandwidth Using The MikroTik Firewall:
  1. "Login" to MikroTik RouterOS using the Winbox application or via a browser by entering the MikroTik RouterOS IP address.
  2. Click on the "IP" menu located on the left side of the Winbox application window.
  3. Click on the "Firewall" submenu.
  4. Click the "+" button to create a new rule.
  5. Enter a name in the "Name" column.
  6. Select "Src.Address" if you want to limit based on origin address or "Address Etc" if you want to limit based on destination address.
  7. Select "Protocol" if you want to limit based on the protocol used.
  8. Fill in the value in the "Dmax Limit" column to determine the maximum download bandwidth limit for each connection.
  9. Fill in the value in the "Umax Limit" column to determine the maximum upload bandwidth limit for each connection.
  10. Select "Action" and select "Mark Connection" from the list of options.
  11. Select "New Connection" in the "Connection State" column.
  12. Click the "Apply" button to save the Firewall configuration.
With the right Firewall configuration, users can limit bandwidth on each connection on MikroTik RouterOS. It is important to understand the needs of users and choose the bandwidth sharing method that best suits those needs.
